Editor's Verdict:

The Tangowire group is a network of over 4,000 websites accessing more than 70 online dating communities). BBW Date Finder is one of the most popular sites in the group, with clones such as All BBW Dating, BBW Dating and Great Big Dates. It's a very intuitive site, well designed with a good color scheme and easy-to-digest layout that makes registration easy. It asks a lot of questions of you and you must submit an answer to all of them, although you can list 'not answered' if it's a subject you really don't want to talk about publicly. We feel the consistency of the registration process is a bonus though and you only have to do it once.

You're asked about your living situation and your ethnicity and to describe your looks including hair and height. You're asked about your education history and your income level as well as your smoking, drug and drink habits. The commitment question is key too, asking whether you're looking for a pen pal or a long term relationship, photo exchange or guidance/coaching.

There's an endearing additional section called facts and favorites. Here you can talk about your dress style, daily diet, pets, first date and turn ons. This will really help to get to know a person better before you make the first move or before you respond to them showing interest.

You get a member ID once you've signed up and the essentials (age, gender and orientation) are separate from the rest of the information about you.

We noticed that all the profile pictures in the search results are close up and well lit, so anything other than this level of clarity must be refused by the moderators. This means the pictures of potential mates are really easy to see even in the mini profile listings, so you don't have to go in to full profiles making browsing much easier and faster.

You can send an email, send a smile or add a person to your favorites from a mini profile too, which as well as the photo tells you what the person is looking for (relationship, just looking etc.), age and ethnicity, username and location, physique, orientation, relationship history eg. divorced and details of who they live with or whether they live alone.

Profile pages aren't as colorful as other sites we've seen, but perhaps this is a good thing as the clear design with lists and boxed information allows for uniformity in your search and you're able to focus on what the person actually says about themselves, rather than get distracted by garish designs.

All your favorite users, copies of emails, admirers, smiles and who's viewed your profile can all be found under the tag Tangos. BBW Date Finder says "it takes two to Tango". So Tangos are basically connections between you and other members. The best thing about this feature is that you can search by date and then sort the results and order them. This is a fantastic way to keep track of your activity.

The BBW Date Finder site is well-formatted, clear and easy to use. It lacks the excitement in design that we've seen from other sites, but many will be more comfortable with this, especially for those serious about finding love.
